Belmonte confirms 2 new COVID-19 cases in QC, brings total to 6

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte on Thursday announced two new coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-2019) cases in Quezon City, bringing the total number to six.

In an interview on Super Radyo dzBB, Belmonte said the two cases were part of the nationwide tally of 52 confirmed cases.

"I think, ngayon, the list is now 52. Yeah, 'yung list na nahuli kong nakita, although baka nadagdagan ulit. The last time I saw it, it was already 52 and two of the additional 3 are from Quezon City," Belmonte said.

The fifth case is a 26-year-old male who may have contracted the virus in a hospital where he was first admitted for Dengue.

"[A]ng tingin ngayon ng aming mga doctors dito, 'yung sa kanilang analysis, baka doon mismo sa hospital na 'yun na contact 'yung COVID-19," Belmonte said.

"After he went to that hospital, he went to another hospital at doon sa isang hospital, sinabihan siya hindi naman Dengue 'yan, COVID-19 'yan," she added.

The hospitals are not city-based, according to Belmonte.

"Nung na test na siya na positive for CIVUD-19 pinauwi pa siya sa bahay. Napauwi siya so this morning sinundo naman siya ng mga doctors from DOH at dinala sa ibang hospital," the mayor said.

Belmonte said authorities have traced individuals who came in contact with the patient.

The sixth case is female who is around 69 years old.  Contact tracing is still on-going for the patient. —Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
