3 CONFIRMED COVID-19

Cainta mayor to place town under quarantine starting March 15

Mayor Johnielle Keith "Kit" Nieto has announced that he would place Cainta in Rizal under quarantine starting Sunday, March 15 after the confirmation of three coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.

On his personal Facebook account, he said that he was "constrained to place the entire town under quarantine" after considering the presence of three confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Cainta.

Nieto noted that two of the patients who tested positive for the virus died on Thursday.

"Pursuant to the President’s pronouncements, documented in an inter agency resolution involving Covid19, and further considering the presence of three confirmed cases of subject virus situated in Barangays San Isidro and San Andres, two of whom died today, i am constrained to place the entire town of Cainta under quarantine," the mayor wrote.

On Friday, Nieto listed down pre-quarantine activities that the town was enforcing.

Some of these activities include the handing out of vitamins to all Cainta seniors, town-wide cleansing of the streets with clorox and other chemicals, and providing alcohol to the municipal hall.

Until the quarantine period is lifted, all public events scheduled from Friday onwards are canceled, he said. —LDF, GMA News
