QC has seventh confirmed case of COVID-19

Quezon City has a new confirmed case of COVID-19 bringing its number of cases to seven, Mayor Joy Belmonte said on Friday.

According to GMA News' Saleema Refran, the patient is a resident of a condominium in Barangay Greater Lagro.

It was not immediately clear if Quezon City's seventh confirmed case is already among the 52 confirmed cases that the DOH announced on Thursday night.

Belmonte on Friday said that a state of calamity has been declared over Quezon City amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) threat.

Belmonte said she immediately requested the city council to pass a resolution declaring a state of calamity after Metro Manila was placed under "community quarantine" on Thursday night.

"Ang pagkaintindi ko, to be very blunt about it, is what the government wants to do is to contain the virus within Metro Manila," Belmonte said.

"Kumbaga, we are protecting the rest of the country from this virus by making sure that kami 'yung naka quarantine. 'Yan 'yung pagkaintindi ko," she added. —NB, GMA News
