Pasig allows tricycle trips for mobility of health workers

Tricycles have been allowed to ply the streets of Pasig City on Tuesday amid the suspension of public transportation in Luzon due to the enhanced community quarantine to prevent the further spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

"We're using our vehicles but it's not enough. Our risk assessment shows that we can't ban tricycles at this point," Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said in a Twitter post.

"Health workers need to get to work. Some emergencies can only be reached by tr[ike]. For now, I am allowing tricycles to operate within Pasig," he added.

Sotto clarified the said tricycle trips will be subject to protocols set by local authorities such as limiting the number of passengers per vehicle to observe social distancing.

"Puwede lang magsakay ng pasaherong exempted sa quarantine," he added.

Though staying at home has been advised for the public during the quarantine period, health and service workers are still required to report for work.
