Marikina adds more routes to free ride service for residents amid quarantine


The Marikina City government on Wednesday announced additional routes for its free shuttle service for its residents after mass public transportation was shut down due to the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.

The two new routes, added to the five announced on Tuesday, are:

Tumana Route

  • Doña Petra
  • Angel Santos
  • Farmers 1
  • Ampalaya
  • Kabayani Road
  • Homeowners Drive
  • River Park Route

Marikina Heights Route

  • Pugad Lawin
  • East Drive
  • C & P Mall
  • Bayan-Bayanan Ave.
  • E. Manalo 6. Toyota Ave.

The five original routes are:

Route 1: Barangka Flyover Coaster

  • Bonifacio Avenue
  • Sumulong Avenue
  • Shoe Avenue
  • Freedom Park - I Love Marikina

Route 2: Panorama Station Coaster

  • Horizon St.
  • Lilac St. - Puregold
  • Rainbow St.
  • 1st Ave.
  • 5th St.
  • Gil Fernando / Robinsons Market
  • Sumulong Highway / Amang Rodriguez Hospital
  • Shoe Avenue / Marikina Public Market
  • Freedom Park - I Love Marikina

Route 3: Camacho Homeowners Association Coaster

  • Along Kabayani Road to access road and up to Tumana/market and Puregold/drug store
  • J. P. Rizal St.
  • Sumulong Highway
  • W. Paz St. / Marikina Public Market and Drug Store
  • Freedom Park - I Love Marikina

Route 4: Santan Street/Caltex Gas Station Coaster

  • Fortune Avenue

The local government earlier said it was expecting private hospitals and other health establishments to provide their own shuttle services for their respective employees.

The entire Luzon is under quarantine from Tuesday, March 17, until April 13 as a preventive measure to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019. —Julia Mari Ornedo/MDM, GMA News
