74-year-old widow found dead inside Parañaque home; police eye robbery

A 74-year-old widow was found dead inside her home in Parañaque City, and police suspect robbery as motive behind the crime.

Police identified the victim as Sonia Moral.

According to the Southern Police District on Friday, authorities went to Moral's home at Marcelo Green Village after a neighbor reported that she was no longer responding to calls. It was then that they discovered her body with multiple stab wounds.

Initial investigation stated that the victim had 30 stab wounds in her body.

Police are initially eyeing robbery as the motive of the incident as pieces of fake jewelry, owned by the victim, were found scattered inside her house.

Police said the victim was living alone and that she was only being looked after by her neighbors.

The weapon used in killing Moral was not yet recovered by authorities.

Investigators are now conducting interviews on possible witnesses and they are also checking security cameras within the neighborhood.

Police said the case was not related to the community quarantine being implemented in Parañaque City as the perpetrator seemed to be an "experienced criminal." --Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
