Lying-in clinic in Mandaluyong now for COVID-19 patients

The Mandaluyong City government has converted a lying-in clinic into a quarantine facility for persons under investigation (PUI), persons under monitoring (PUM) and patients positive of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), according to Emil Sumangil’s report on “24 Oras.”

The city government on Monday opened the Mandaluyong Medical Center annex, which serves as the birthing place of pregnant women, to COVID-19 patients due to lack of space at the main hospital.

Meanwhile, the birthing place was transferred to another building.

“Birthing place namin ito eh, itong nandito sa Martinez, ‘yan ang kinonvert namin para sa mga magiging positive at ‘yong mga PUIs,” Mayor Menchie Abalos said.

Abalos also said her office is making sure all PUIs and PUMs are being given food assistance to make sure they will be healthy throughout their quarantine period.

As of March 23, a total of 14 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the city with more than 400 PUIs and PUMs.

The big number is due to the intensified contact tracing by city health officials and the Department of Health.—Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
