Valenzuela City implements liquor ban amid COVID-19

Valenzuela City has implemented a liquor ban to discourage its residents from going out amid the Luzon-wide quarantine due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to Corrine Catibayan's Wednesday report on Saksi, the local government observed that most of the individuals disobeying curfew were under the influence of alcohol.

Due to this, those caught drinking will be given a ticket and fined P5,000. If minors were arrested, they would be required to conduct community service.

Meanwhile, some stores have taken the initiative of not selling alcohol.

"Andami po kasi ano nag-iinuman diyan, minsan naghahagis ng bote, kaya mas maganda yung may liquor ban," a seller said.

In Barangay Caysio, Santa Maria, Bulacan, authorities caught an elderly male on Tuesday night. According to the report, the man insisted of getting gin instead. —Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
