Valenzuela now has 3 confirmed COVID-19 cases

Valenzuela City has recorded three confirmed COVID-19 cases, with one of them “hooked up to oxygen for breathing support,” the local government said Friday.

In an interview over Dobol B sa News TV, Mayor Rex Gatchalian said the city is done with contact tracing for the three COVID-19 cases.

“Naka-automatic kasi ang contact tracing namin, so tinignan namin iyong mga nakasalamuha nila, walang nag-overlap. So we can say that these are unrelated cases. Kaya malamang nakuha nila ito sa kanilang workplace outside Valenzuela,” Gatchalian said in an interview with Dobol B sa News TV.

“Iyong sa first two cases, mukhang magiging maayos iyong kanilang kalagayan. Inaantay na lang nila ang second round ng test, sana maging negative na sila kasi wala silang symptoms. Itong pangatlong case, ito ‘yung medyo nakatutok ang mga doctor natin sa Valenzuela Medical Center kasi hindi na mild ‘yung symptom na kanyang ine-exhibit. He is confined and is getting all the attention he needs, “ Gatchalian added.

In a separate statement posted on Twitter, Valenzuela City described its latest COVID-19 patient as a 34-year-old male who is immunocompromised and had no travel history outside the country. The 34-year-old was previously admitted to a hospital due to pneumonia.

This same patient was eventually discharged from the hospital, but he again experienced COVID-19 symptoms post-discharge and was given antibiotics by his physician, the city government said.

“The patient is currently admitted in a hospital and has a working diagnosis of severe pneumonia. He's currently hooked up to oxygen for breathing support,” it said.

Likewise, the city assured the public that the Valenzuela City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) is in touch with the family of the third COVID-19 patient. — Llanesca T. Panti/RSJ, GMA News
