Two Marikina cops arrested for allegedly raping inmates —Sinas

The chief of the National Capital Region Police (NCRPO) on Tuesday bared that two policemen in Marikina City were arrested for allegedly raping two inmates. 

"We would like to report sa inyo, 'yung dalawang pulis ng Marikina were charged for rape," Police Major General Debold Sinas said at a press briefing. 

"Ang maganda dito kasi ang kumuha dito sa dalawang pulis ay kapwa pulis din... Sila po ay na-assign sa Marikina City Police Station sa special operating unit ng istasyon," Sinas added. 

The accused cops were identified as Patrolman Arnold Moscosa Geroy and Patrolman Sonny Baccay Maruzzo. 

According to Sinas, the alleged rape incident took place last March 29 when the two cops summoned two female inmates to go to their office.

"Dinala sa opisina... From there sa opisina nila, minolestiya sila ng dalawang pulis..." Sinas said.

Sinas said one of the detainees immediately reported the incident to the guard of the custodial facility. The matter was relayed to the chief of the Marikina Police. 

"Pag-release nu'ng dalawang pulis sa dalawang babae, pagdating sa custodial facility, nagsumbong 'yung babae sa guwardiya na ni-rape sila ng dalawang pulis," Sinas said. 

The Metro Manila top cop said the policemen, who were immediately arrested, admitted that they had committed the crime. However, the suspects insisted that they have the victims' consent. 

Cases of rape were filed against the two policemen. 

The suspects were already disarmed and have been detained in a separate facility at the Marikina City Police Station. 

Meanwhile, Sinas ensured that the NCRPO would remain relentless in dismissing erring policemen in Metro Manila. —KG, GMA News
