Kapuso Foundation donates supplies for East Avenue Medical Center health workers

The GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF) on Monday donated medical supplies to health workers of the East Avenue Medical Center, who are at the frontline in the fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to a report on “24 Oras,” the Foundation distributed 130 folding beds, 130 blankets, 200 washable personal protective equipment, 200 germicidal soap and 744 bottles of water to hospital staff who are already sleeping inside the facility to prevent the spread of the viral disease among their families.

“Nagpapasalamat kami ng lubusan sa GMA Kapuso Foundation at ang mga donors nito at nawa sila ay lalong palawigin ang kanilang mga ginagawa,” Dr. Alfonso Nuñez, medical chief of East Avenue Medical Center, said.

Nuñez said more than 100 hospital staff, including doctors, nurses, paramedical and administrative crew, are unable to go home for almost a month amid the threat of spreading the virus and discrimination as well.

“Gagawa kami ng paraan dahil ang East Avenue Medical Center ay isa sa mga ospital na talagang tinutulungan namin,” GMA Kapuso Foundation Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer  Rikki Escudero-Catibog said.

The GMAKF is still calling for donations to help provide more supplies for the country’s medical frontliners.

The Kapuso Foundation, however, discourages material donations from the public for now due to the enhanced community quarantine that is in effect over Luzon and so as to keep people T home and off the streets to avoid the spread of the virus.

GMAKF said online bank donations are highly recommended.
