Makati City imposes mandatory wearing of face masks
The Makati City Council has passed an ordinance requiring residents to wear face masks or protective gear while outdoors amid a public health emergency.
Under City Ordinance No. 2020-089, residents, workers, and visitors should use masks as protection to the wearer and to prevent the spread of infection or illness.
The required protective equipment include face shields, ear-loop masks, cloth masks, handkerchiefs, scarfs, indigenous, reusable or do-it-yourself masks and other similar gear.
The first offense in failing to wear protective gear is a fine of P1,000; for the second offense the fine is P3,000 and for the third or for repeatedly violating the ordinance the fine is P5,000 and/or imprisonment of up to six months. -- BAP, GMA News
