3 hotels in Quezon City used as quarantine facilities for repatriated OFWs

Three hotels in Quezon City are being used as isolation facilities by nearly 1,000 returning Filipino migrant workers.

According to a 24 Oras report by Saleema Refran, some of the arrangements for OFWs to stay in hotels were facilitated by recruitment agencies while others were handled by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

“Prior naman ipadala ‘yan dito sa Quezon City, na-testing na rin naman ang ating mga OFW na ‘yan,” Quezon City tourism chief Teresa Tirona assured residents.

Aside from a resolution by the government’s COVID-19 task force ordering local governments to allow the unhampered transit of migrant workers who have completed their 14-day quarantine, the Quezon City government also has its own anti-discrimination ordinance for COVID-19 cases.

Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said some 70,000 to 100,000 OFWs are expected to return home amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
