Suspected COVID-19 death in QC Jail had 20 close contacts

A detainee who is suspected to have died from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) at the Quezon City Jail came into contact with some 20 other people inside his cell.

According to a 24 Oras report by Saleema Refran on Tuesday, the victim is only suspected of being a COVID-19 patient but never underwent testing.

“Nagkaroon na ng quarantine and isolation of those who were exposed and they were able to test them already. Wala pa ‘yung result,” said Dr. Rolly Cruz, chief of the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit.

A total of 956 COVID-19 cases with 57 deaths and 31 recoveries have been reported in Quezon City as of Tuesday afternoon, according to the Department of Health.

Nationwide, the disease has claimed 335 lives and infected over 5,000 people. -MDM, GMA News
