Isko Moreno eyes implementing hard lockdown in Tondo, Sta. Cruz, San Andres, Malate

The city government of Manila is studying the possibility of implementing hard lockdown in some areas due to the threat of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Mayor Isko Moreno said on Tuesday.

In an interview on Dobol B sa News TV, Moreno said officials are assessing if hard lockdown will be enforced in Tondo, Sta. Cruz, San Andres, and Malate.

"It's in my table already last night 'yung plan... we're gonna do more communication kasi when we do a hard lockdown, we give them ample time to prepare. We do not want to do it ura-urada ba..." he said.

Moreno said this aims to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Manila City.

"'Yun ang isang basehan, 'yung exposure ng ating mga kababayan sa pagiging PUI (person under investigation) at saka 'yung presensya ng coronavirus sa community,” he said.

Last week, a 48-hour hard lockdown was implemented in Sampaloc due to the high number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the area.

So far, Manila has 644 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 60 deaths and 89 recoveries.

Meanwhile, the city health department also recorded a total of 1,009 suspected cases.—AOL, GMA News
