The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Navotas City has reached 35, its mayor said on Wednesday.

In a virtual forum, Mayor Toby Tiangco said of the total number of cases, 11 people have recovered while 10 others have died.

Tiangco said five were staying at home, four were confined in hospitals in Navotas City, and five others were being attended in hospitals outside the city.

"'Yung deaths karamihan dito during the first few weeks so either late March 'yan o early April dahil noong time na 'yun sa tingin ko takot pa 'yung mga tao na pumunta sa ospital kaagad," Tiangco said.

Tiangco reminded residents to immediately go to hospitals if they manifest COVID-19 symptoms.

"Ang maganda dito kung may sintomas, ipa-check kaagad. Huwag patagalin," Tiangco said.

In a Facebook post, Tiangco also called on his constituents to stay at home and follow the guidelines of the strict quarantine.

"Nasa labas ang panganib. Nasa labas ang virus. Ang pananatili po sa bahay ang pinakamabisang paraan para maging ligtas sa sakit na ito," Tiangco said.

"Sumunod po sa quarantine. Makiisa para matapos na ang krisis na ito. Bahay muna, buhay muna," he added.

Tiangco earlier said he would donate his salary from April 2020 until the end of his term in June 2022 to provide cash assistance to his constituents who were not covered by the national government’s social amelioration program. —KG, GMA News
