QCPD arrest 18 suspects for Barangay Central protest

Eighteen individuals were arrested by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) for holding a protest Friday afternoon in Barangay Central, Quezon City.

According to a statement, local police found the suspects along Maparaan corner Kalayaan Avenue calling for, among other things, the equal distribution of aid and social amelioration program cash grants.

The suspects were taken into protective custody by the QCPD.

All the arrested individuals, as well as the evidence, were turned over to the appropriate unit for investigation and proper disposition.

The suspects were arrested for the violation of the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases of Health Events of Public Health Concern Act, the Bayanihan to Heal as Once Act, and the Public Assembly Act of 1985. — Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA News
