15% of QC beneficiaries received cash aid -official

Around 15% of beneficiaries of the government's Social Amelioration Program (SAP) already received the emergency cash subsidy in Quezon City, the local government said on Monday.

Interviewed on Dobol B sa News TV, Quezon City Administrator Michael Victor Alimurung said the local government is trying to meet the deadline of the distribution.

“As of yesterday, mga 57,000 out of 377,000 ang na-pay out na,” Alimurung said.

The deadline for the distribution of SAP aid is extended from April 30 to May 7.

He explained that the lists of beneficiaries from barangays are not yet completed. He said the local government wants to ensure that the subsidy will be given only to qualified residents.

Alimurung noted that Quezon City has a big population and land area.

The program in light of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) impact aims to distribute aid of up to P16, 000 to 18 million low income families nationwide in two months with a budget of P200 billion. --Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
