Marikina opens 3 quarantine facilities for COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms, PUIs

Three emergency quarantine facilities, which will cater for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients with mild symptoms and persons under investigation for the disease, were opened in Marikina City on Monday.

Mayor Marcelino Teodoro and some officials from the Armed Forces of the Philippines turned over the air-conditioned facilities to the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center (ARMMC).

“Ang ginagawa natin dito ay expansion ng Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center, a DOH sub-level 3 hospital, so that they could accommodate more, accept more, and admit more COVID patients and with COVID-like symptoms sa facility nila,” Teodoro said in a press release.

"Maliban doon may dagdag tayo na halos isang daan pa, doon sa kabilang bahagi ng compound ng hospital, kulang-kulang 200-bed capacity. Mabuti na marami para hindi i-turn away ang mga pasyente na kailangan magamot,” he added.

Teodoro further said not only Marikina City residents would benefit with the opening of the new quarantine facilities, noting that these will also be open to residents of the eastern area of Rizal province, San Mateo, Antipolo City as well as those from some areas of Pasig City.

"Io-open din naman natin ito sa kanila kasi nakikita naman natin ang health service naman ay hindi naman para lang sa isang bayan kundi para sa lahat. Ang kaligtasan ng isang bayan ay kaligtasan na rin ng katabing bayan,” Teodoro said.

Two more quarantine facilities will be built at the parking area of the hospital, according to Teodoro.

The local government of Marikina said the three quarantine facilities were constructed by the AFP and the WTA Architecture and Design Studio.

The AFP said eight other emergency quarantine facilities were earlier built to augment military hospitals, including three facilities in Army General Hospital, two in V. Luna Medical Center, one in Philippine Air Force General Hospital, one in Fernando Air Base Hospital, and one in Manila Naval Hospital.—AOL, GMA News
