Brgy. Addition Hills, a COVID-19 hotspot in Mandaluyong, under total lockdown

Barangay Addition Hills in Mandaluyong City was placed under a week-long lockdown on Thursday to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

"Totally closed ang lahat ng palengke, talipapa, sari-sari stores, talagang totally iko-close po siya, and wala na rin pong movement na mangyayari," said Barangay Captain Karlito Cernal in Mai Bermudez's report on Unang Balita.

He said only essential workers with valid IDs and performing official functions, as well as those with emergencies, are allowed to leave their homes.

The lockdown will be in place until May 13. First-time offenders will only be reprimanded, officials said. Beyond that they will be detained and charged.

Soldiers from the Philippine Army have been deployed to assist policemen and barangay watchers in implementing the lockdown.

The barangay has so far recorded 59 cases with at least six deaths. --KBK, GMA News
