Barangay chairman in Caloocan accused of asking for half of cash-aid

A barangay chairman in Caloocan City was allegedly caught on video asking a social amelioration program beneficiary for half of his P8,000 cash aid, supposedly to be given to another resident.

According to Emil Sumangil's report on "24 Oras", the owner of the video said   Barangay 127 chairman Lee Vitug was with the barangay executive officer  and a woman named Lina during the encounter.

"Ako nga nagbigay. Ako nga nagpaalala na bibigyan kayo, eh. Kaso nga may kahati-hati kayo," a man was heard saying in the video.

The complainant said that after the group had left, another person went back to get the money.

Another barangay resident said that he was approached by a kagawad and was handed P4,000. He said he refused the money, saying he didn't accomplish any paperwork.

"May dala siyang 4,000 [...] Sabi ko ibalik mo yan," he said.

Vitug denied the allegations.

"Wala hong katotohanan ho 'yun. -NB, GMA News
