Mandaluyong's Barangay Mauway to be placed under total lockdown May 11-13

Mandaluyong City announced that Barangay Mauway will be placed under total lockdown from May 11 to 13 as a response to the COVID-19 threat.

The total lockdown will begin at 12 a.m. on Monday, May 11, and will end at 11:59 p.m. of Wednesday, May 13, as specified in Executive Order No. 16.

 

 

With the total lockdown, only health workers and workers of establishments offering essential services such as banks, groceries and drug stores will be allowed to go out of the barangay.

Also exempted from the total lockdown are other frontliners, government officials and employees, and other authorized persons.

All establishments will be closed during the lockdown, prompting residents to flock to markets on Sunday, according to a report by Mark Makalalad on Dobol B sa News TV.

According to the Mandaluyong Public Information Office, the City Health Office will conduct rapid testing to screen more than 1,000 residents for COVID-19 during the lockdown.

Food packs will be given to residents, it added.

As of 4 p.m. on Saturday, Mandaluyong City has recorded a total of 466 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Barangay Mauway has 71 confirmed COVID-19 cases while the National Center for Mental Health, which is also in Barangay Mauway, has 18.

The death toll was at 37 while 129 have recovered.
