By ANNA FELICIA BAJO,GMA News

Makati City Mayor Abby Binay on Monday announced that each resident of the city would receive cash assistance worth P5,000 as part of the city's economic relief program.

"Mahirap man o mayaman, nakatanggap man ng SAP o hindi, kahit saang sector man... mabibigyan po kayo ng ayuda. Ito po ang sinasabi natin, ang MAKA-Tulong P5,000 for 500,000," Binay said in a Facebook Live.

Under the Makatizen Economic Relief Program, the city government allotted P2.7 billion to provide cash assistance to residents in this time of health crisis.

Binay explained that under the program, a husband and wife would receive a total of P10,000. If they have children, aged 18-years-old and above, and senior citizens in their household, the family could even get a total of P20,000.

For those who don't have a Makatizen card, Binay said they could apply online or they could submit an application form to a barangay personnel. She added that forms would be distributed in every household.

According to Binay, the cash aid will be sent to the resident's Makatizen e-wallet account. If a resident does not have this, the city government will create a GCash account for the resident based on the information written in his/her application form.

The money can be withdrawn through GCash Cash In/Cash Out agents, Binay said.

Residents may start to get the P5,000 on or before May 15 if they have the Makatizen card or they already submitted their application, Binay said.

She reminded Makati residents that the P5,000 in the e-wallet would only be valid for 30 days. — RSJ, GMA News
