14-day special concern lockdown starts in parts of Quezon City

 

Some areas in Quezon City were placed under 14-day special concern lockdown starting 12 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, to address the threat of COVID-19.

More than 500 families were affected in two compounds in Barangay Culiat—Vargas Compound and Angkop Canada Compound, according to a report of James Agustin on GMA News' Unang Balita.

In Vargas Compound, 350 families will have to stay home for the next two weeks.

 

 

 

According to a purok leader, there were four confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the said compound.

Residents interviewed said they were able to do groceries and stock up on supplies before the lockdown.

Meanwhile, in Angkop Canada Compound, 160 families were affected by the lockdown.

Ten confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in this compound.

 

 

 

Other areas under the 14-day special concern lockdown are Sitio Militar in Barangay Bahay Toro; Adelfa Metro Heights and Abanay in Barangay Culiat; Lower Gulod in Barangay Sauyo; 318 Dakila Street, 2nd Alley Kalayaan B and Masbate Street in Barangay Batasan Hills; and Victory Avenue, ROTC Hunters, BMA Avenue and Agno Street in Barangay Tatalon.

The local government will conduct intensified testing and monitoring for COVID-19 in these areas.

Assistant City Administrator for Operations Alberto Kimpo assured residents of affected areas that the city government will provide food and other assistance.

A total of 1,597 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Quezon City as of Tuesday. Of this number, 385 recovered while 140 died. —KG, GMA News
