Maynilad customers request to pay water bill in installments amid ECQ

Customers have requested Maynilad to allow them to pay in installments the water bills they incurred during the enhanced community quarantine.

In Marisol Abdurahman's report on "24 Oras," they are worried about their accumulated consumption as the water concessionaire has yet to read meters.

Maynilad has given a month-long extension for customers to pay their bills, but they also have the option to pay now based on the average consumption in the previous months.

"Very limited 'yung mobility ng aming mga tao sa field, kaya po nakipagkasundo po muna kami dun sa regulatory office po namin sa ganitong sistema," said Maynilad head of water supply operations Engr. Ronaldo Padua.

Maynilad has not addressed the request for staggered payments, but they assured customers that they will not execute disconnections during the lockdown.

According to the company, they have observed a 30 percent increase in water consumption in residential houses as more people stay at home. —Kaela Malig/MGP, GMA News
