Metro Manila may be placed under GCQ after May 31 -Año

There is a huge possibility that the National Capital Region will be placed under general community quarantine beyond May 31, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said Tuesday.

"Malaki ang posibilidad na ang Metro Manila at 'yung ibang lugar na MECQ (modified enhanced community quarantine) ay puwedeng lumuwag na at mapunta sa GCQ," Año told Dobol B sa News TV.

He said under GCQ, lockdowns could be placed on barangays, subdivisions, and small neighborhood.

"Sa tingin ko mas maganda itong set-up na ito dahil makakahinga 'yung ating economy at makakafocus tayo sa mga may cases," he said.

Año bared that the Metro Manila Council would have a meeting later this afternoon to discuss their recommendation on whether to extend the modified enhanced community quarantine in NCR or to ease its quarantine measures.

Año said President Rodrigo Duterte could announce his final decision by Thursday or Friday. —AOL, GMA News
