EDSA seen transformed with bike lanes, other measures in 'new normal'

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has released models of designated bike lanes, pedestrian crossings and bus boarding areas in Metro Manila’s main thoroughfare EDSA under the general community quarantine setting.

The DOTr earlier said two-wheel vehicles would play an important role for Filipino commuters once the community quarantines have been lifted and the country transitions into the "new normal."

It said it would push for the use of motorcycles and bicycles as modes of transportation after the lockdowns currently in place to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

Last Sunday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) set up a bike lane on EDSA for the dry run of the new scheme in light of the COVID-19 threat.

Below are the configurations of how bike lanes, pedestrian crossing, a segregated bus lane and passenger boarding area will be implemented along EDSA.
