GMA News' Raffy Tima bikes with worker

GMA News reporter Raffy Tima on Monday joined a worker in biking his way to work.

According to his report on “24 Oras,” bicycles play an important role for Filipino commuters as the country transitions into the “new normal.”

Resty, a sales assistant, shared that potholes and fast cars were among the dangers he faces while riding a bicycle every day.

“Doble ingat lang ‘di kagaya noong nakaraan, kaunting sasakyan lang. Ngayon, talagang gigilid ka eh,” Resty said.

“Ayan lubak, tapos iiwas mo tapos may motor sa likod mo,” he added.

From Cainta, Rizal, Tima and Resty rode their bikes along Ortigas Avenue until they reached the supermarket where latter works in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City.

Ever since he started biking to work, Resty said there were instances he almost got caught in an accident.

“Hihinto bigla ‘yong nasa harapan mo eh ‘di maiiwasan eh buti medyo malakas preno natin kundi wala, salpok tayo,” he said.

Meanwhile, bicycles were seen all over Commonwealth Avenue earlier, blending with several motorcycles and private vehicles.

A couple was also seen riding a bike together from Tomas Morato up to Eastwood.

“Minsan, 40 minutes pero kapag maglalakad ka 2 hours, sobrang hirap, mahirap maglakad,” the woman said. —Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
