1,500 families affected by fire in Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City


About 1,500 families were affected by the fire that hit Barangay Addition Hills in Mandaluyong city amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic on Monday, Bam Alegre reported on Saksi.

It can be recalled that barangay was placed under lockdown due to the high number of COVID-19 cases.

On Monday, a fist fight erupted while firefighters were working to put the blaze under control and residents were busy trying to save their belongings.

The incident ended almost as quickly as it started.

The fire started at about 5:31 p.m. and an 11-year-old boy was reported hurt in the incident.

Task Force Bravo was raised a few minutes after 6 p.m. and then a general alarm was raised by Bureau of Fire Prevention (BFP) personnel less then three hours afterwards.

Social distancing was not practiced by residents amid the fire, said Barangay Chairman Carlito Cernal, adding that he is concerned that there may be local transmission of COVID-19 cases at the site after a few days.

According to the report of Tuesday Niu of Super Radyo's DZBB, the fire has been declared under control a few minutes after 1 a.m. on Tuesday. -- BAP, GMA News
