COVID-19 cases continue to rise in some provinces

The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in several provinces continued to rise amid the loosened quarantine protocols.

According to a Tuesday “24 Oras News Alert,” Occidental Mindoro reported two new cases of the disease, bringing the total number of infections in the province to 39.

Of the 39, one died while seven had recovered.

Meanwhile, a nurse in Ilocos Sur, who was at the frontline in the fight against COVID-19, also contracted the illness.

The infected medical worker was confined at the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center.

Close contacts of the patient were being contact traced, with disinfection services were being offered and performed.

Both Occidental Mindoro and Ilocos Sur were under a modified general community quarantine.

Meanwhile, a Batangas City local also tested positive for COVID-19.

The patient had a history of contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case in the city.

So far, Batangas City, which is under a general community quarantine, had 62 confirmed cases of COVID-19. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/DVM, GMA News
