Dad didn’t make it to hospital where Baby Kobe died because he couldn’t find a ride

The father of Baby Kobe, the infant who survived Covid-19 but later died, has revealed that he did not make it to the hospital where his son was confined because he could not find a ride.

Kobe Manjares, a newborn who survived COVID-19, died due to sepsis earlier today

According Cedric Castillo’s report on “24 Oras” Thursday, Kobe was discharged from the National Children’s Hospital in April but was brought back this month after his temperature rose again and his stomach enlarged.

On Wednesday night, Ronnel, the father, said he still saw his son through video call. Little did he know that by early Thursday morning, Kobe would take his last breath.

“Mahigit pong 21 missed calls na po pala bago ko nasagot,” Ronnel revealed, sharing that the hospital kept calling him. “Tinanong po ako ng doctor kung payag daw po akong lagyan ng tubo si totoy kasi nahirapan po huminga.”

However, Ronnel shared that before he could make a decision, the doctor told him that Kobe’s body had already given up.

“Hindi ko po alam ’yung gagawin ko kagabi. Gusto ko ho sanang pumunta, wala rin po akong masasakyan,” he said.

“Kahit sino naman pong magulang siyempre po hindi po siguradong  matatanggap pero wala na po kaming magagawa,” he added.

According to the hospital’s director Dr. Epifania Simbul, Kobe also suffered from Hirschsprung’s disease based on his colon biopsy.
