COVID-19 recoveries in Quezon City breach 1,000-mark


The Quezon City government reported on Thursday that the number of recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has exceeded 1,000.

Mayor Joy Belmonte, in a statement, said the city has recorded 1,026 recoveries from the virus based on the report submitted by the QC-Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (ESU) of the QC Health Department.

“This is a most welcome and significant development in our effort to combat COVID-19,” said Belmonte.

“Full credit goes to our frontliners who have put their lives on the line. We thank them for their great sacrifice for our residents and for our city,” she added.

QC-ESU head Dr. Rolly Cruz said there are 178 recoveries in District 1 while there were 119 cases in District 2, 202 cases in District 3, 265 cases  in District 4, 105 cases in District 5 and 157 cases in District 6.

“Key to the high number of recoveries is the swift testing, tracing and treatment of possible COVID-19 patients,” Cruz explained.

“The city hopes to continue this positive trend with the help of national and locally-run hospitals and our HOPE community caring facilities,” he added.

As of Thursday, based on information from the Department of Health, there are 2,294 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Quezon City.

The total number of confirmed cases with complete addresses in Quezon City is now at 2,184 while the total number of validated cases by the QC Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit and District Health Offices is 2,056.

There are 844 active COVID-19 cases in the city.

 

There are four new cases of death, bringing the total number of deaths to 186.

Quarantine facility

The HOPE 1 quarantine facility has 12 available beds for COVID-19 confirmed and suspected patients.  There are 24 confirmed patients, 5 suspected and probable patients in HOPE 1 facility.

At the HOPE 2 quarantine facility, 198 beds are occupied by confirmed and suspected COVID-19 patients while 36 beds are available. Those who have been tested in QC’s community-based testing are brought in HOPE 2 for self-isolation while waiting for their results.

The HOPE 3 Facility, which was recently opened to accommodate confirmed and suspected COVID-19 nursing mothers and their babies. The facility is equipped with 84 beds, cribs, bassinets and other baby essentials. As of June 3, 41 patients are admitted in the facility. -- BAP, GMA News
