Experts from the University of the Philippines (UP) on Thursday said the number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Metro Manila could rise to 16,500 to 20,500 by June 30 based on the current reproduction trend.

Professors Guido David and Ranjit Rye said the current reproduction number in Metro Manila is between 0.96 and 1.2, meaning the region is a medium to high-risk area

“‘Pag less than 1 siya, good news ‘yan. Bumabagal ‘yung pagkalat kasi kumokonti ‘yung infection niya,” Rye said.
