COVID-19 CRISIS

Area inside QC subdivision placed under special concern lockdown

A portion of a street inside a private subdivision in Barangay Bagbag in Quezon City has been placed under special concern lockdown (SCL) after recording six active COVID-19 cases.

In a statement on Monday, Assistant City Administrator Alberto Kimpo said a portion of King Christian Street in Kingspoint Subdivision was placed under SCL after one active patient infected three other individuals in the same household and two more households in the area.

Kimpo said 59 families with a total population of 243 residents live in the area.

Dr. Rolly Cruz, head of the QC-Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (QC-ESU) of the QC Health Department, said distribution of case investigation forms will begin on Monday.

“After that, we will conduct polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing on Wednesday until Friday on those who need them, based on our assessment,” Cruz said.

So far, four areas in Quezon City remain under SCL, including Kaingin Bukid in Barangay Apolonio Samson, portions of Ermin Garcia Street and Imperial Street in Barangay E. Rodriguez, and the upper half of Calle 29 in Barangay Libis.

Cruz said the SCL in Kaingin Bukid, which started on June 10, will be extended to give the QC-ESU more time to complete 1,000 tests in the area.

Meanwhile, out of the 573 individuals that underwent rapid testing in the concerned portions of Ermin Garcia and Imperial Streets, which are both under SCL since June 15, only six came back positive.

Cruz added the upper part of Calle 29 will remain under SCL as it still has nine active COVID-19 cases.

Recently, the QC health department has lifted the SCL in Sitio Militar in Barangay Bahay Toro after no new COVID-19 cases were recorded. --Ma. Angelica Garcia/KBK, GMA News
