Localized lockdown implemented in Taguig City construction site due to COVID

A localized lockdown has been implemented at a construction site in the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig City after a group of individuals were reportedly  running a fever, the City government announced.

The lockdown, which is aimed at providing proper care for the workers and prevent an outbreak in the area, started on Tuesday, June 23, and will last until July 7, 2020.

On June 18, the City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CEDSU) investigated the report and conducted tests.

The test results of the 27 suspect cases, released on June 23 at 11 a.m., confirmed that at least six construction workers have coronavirus disease or COVID-19.

Based on the evaluation of their work environment, certain workers were also tested for Dengue, Typhoid and the Zika virus.

During the lockdown, the site will be cordoned off by the Taguig Police and BGC Marshalls shall cordon off and secure the site.

The city government will regularly monitor the health and living conditions of the patients while assistance from emergency health response teams will be readily available.

The Taguig City government is withholding details as regards the identification of the construction site, developer and names of workers "to protect their right to privacy and avoid unnecessary and undue harm to all the parties involved." -- BAP, GMA News
