P6.8M DRUGS CONFISCATED

Army reservist among 3 suspects arrested in buy-bust op in Quezon City mall

Authorities arrested three suspects, including an Army reservist, in a drug buy-bust operation in a shopping mall in Quezon City on Saturday morning.

Nabbed were reservist Private 1st Class Omar Salillaguia Pagayawan, 35; Arnel Abdul, 31 and a company driver; and Jonaid Londoy, 27 and unemployed.

The suspects were arrested at the parking lot of Ever Gotesco Mall at 8:30 a.m.

The buy-bust operation was conducted by operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Special Enforcement Service, PDEA Region 4A and Station 6 of Quezon City Police District.

Confiscated from the suspects were more or less one kilo of suspected shabu estimated to be worth P6.8 million, buy bust money and one Honda Fit motorcycle.

The Philippine Army said it will investigate Pagayawan, its spokesperson Colonel Ramon Zagala said.

"We hold all our personnel, whether active soldiers or reservists, to the highest standards of military discipline and professionalism," Zagala said.

"The Army Reserve Command will investigate this matter accordingly and if found guilty, he will be expelled from the service," he added.

Meanwhile, the Armed Forces of the Philippines' Joint Task Force National Capital Region (JTF NCR) said it has requested for Pagayawan's delisting. —KG, GMA News
