10 of 16 new EDSA bus stops ready to use, says MMDA

Transportation officials on Monday morning inspected some of the over a dozen new bus stops established along EDSA, according to James Agustin's report on Unang Balita.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) spokesperson Celine Pialago said the bus stops have fences, waiting sheds and markings to ensure social distancing.

Concrete barriers, Pialago said, will soon replace the plastic orange barriers being used for the meantime in some of the bus stops.

"Bago maging operational, kailangan siguraduhin na kumpleto yung concrete barriers," she said.

Of the total 16 bus stops, 10 are ready for operations, Pialago added. The MMDA expects all bus stops to be operational either by first week or second week of July.

With bus stops now in place along EDSA, Pialago said commuters are expected to do "active transport," meaning walk, to their destinations.

For this, the commuters can use the existing MRT and LRT infrastructure, including its elevators, stairs or escalators. The commuters can also use the existing footbridges. —KBK, GMA News
