Driver, family live inside jeep after eviction from rented room in Manila

A jeepney driver and his family are now living inside their jeep after they were evicted from their rented room in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

In a photo taken by GMA News' Danny Pata, driver Jordan Salazar and his wife were seen playing with their children as they transformed the vehicle into their home.

Salazar's jeepney plies the Sta. Cruz to Baclaran route.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has released the guidelines allowing thousands of “roadworthy” traditional jeepneys to resume operations under the general community quarantine (GCQ) in Metro Manila.

A corresponding QR Code shall be issued to the operator prior to operation, which must be printed and displayed in the corresponding unit, in lieu of the Special Permit, the LTFRB said.

Senior consultant to the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Engr. Alberto Suansing on Friday said the government has allowed traditional jeepneys without the required QR codes to operate for a limited period of time. —LBG, GMA News
