Manila converts Delpan Sports Complex into a temporary holding facility for rescued street dwellers

Street dwellers rescued in Manila will be brought to Delpan Sports Complex which the city government turned into a temporary holding facility.

Compartmentalized shelter were installed inside the sports complex to provide the street dwellers some privacy, a Twitter post by Super Radyo dzBB’s Isa Umali showed.

Umali said, according to Cesar Chavez, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno ordered the city social welfare department to rescue all street dwellers and eventually bring them to Manila Boystown Complex.

Meanwhile, at least 100 street dwellers brought to Boystown on Tuesday underwent rapid testing conducted by the Manila Health Department, according to a Facebook post by Manila public information office.

The MHD targets to test 672 rescued individuals. Those who will test positive for COVID-19 will be brought to the city’s quarantine facility.
