Only 200 devotees allowed inside Baclaran Church per Mass -report

Only 200 people are allowed inside Redemptorist Church, National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, on the first Baclaran Day since the government allowed religious gatherings up to 10% of the seating capacity of the venue.

In his report on Unang Balita, GMA’s Jonathan Andal said parishioners lined up as early as 6 a.m. to attend the 8 a.m. Mass. Those who were not able to go inside decided to hear the Mass outside the compound.

Churchgoers have to undergo strict health protocols such as using the footbath, taking of body temperature, washing of hands, and filling up of health declaration form.

They need to provide their name, age, phone number, address, time and date of Mass, and seat number inside the church. The health declaration form will be put in a box before they go out of the church compound.

Cars and motorcycles are not allowed inside the compound while those riding bicycles will be allowed to enter provided that the vehicle will be disinfected. 

Parishioners can attend the Masses scheduled at 8 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m.

In the past, thousands of devotees flock to Redemptorist Church, which has a total seating capacity of 2,000, every Wednesday to say novena and honor Our Mother of Perpetual Help.

But when COVID-19 hit the country early this year, authorities prohibited mass gatherings to prevent the further spread of the infection. —AOL, GMA News
