200,000 families given aid under Taguig's own amelioration program

At least 200,000 families benefited from Taguig City's own version of the Social Amelioration Program, which aims to assist residents affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Mayor Lino Cayetano said on Friday.

"Inspired by what the national government has done, what Congress has passed... sinupplement ng government of Taguig... we are giving 200,000 families P4,000 para makatulong to complement doon sa ating SAP program," Cayetano said at a Laging Handa press briefing.

He said stay-at-home packs have also been given to provide the needs of households. These packs could last for days, he said.

Cayetano also said the city government is enforcing localized lockdown, not in the entire barangay but only in a particular place, so that business operations would not be disrupted.

The mayor has also said before that aggressive testing efforts are being done to curb the transmission of the virus.

So far, the city has 1,663 confirmed cases with 610 recoveries.—AOL, GMA News
