LTO issues show cause order vs driver, bus firm for EDSA speeding
By JOAHNA LEI CASILAO,GMA NewsThe Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Saturday issued a show cause order for the bus driver who was recorded on video speeding along EDSA’s bus lane and damaging concrete barriers and vehicles.
The LTO directed Florin Lomosco of the Royal Express Incorporated to appear before the Law Enforcement Service in Quezon City on July 27, Monday at 2 p.m.
Lomosco was also directed to submit a written explanation as to why his license should not be suspended or revoked for violations of the Transportation and Traffic Code.
Meanwhile, the operator was asked to explain why the LTO should not sanction the company for its failure to “exercise extraordinary diligence” in the selection and supervision of the driver.
The LTO said that failure to appear will be viewed as the driver waiving his right to be heard.
While the investigation is on-going, Lomosco's license will be suspended for three months upon the receipt of the show cause order.

DOTr denounces operator and driver
In a separate statement, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) denounced the operator and the driver.
The DOTr said that Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade had ordered the concerned agencies to conduct an immediate investigation into the incident.
"We, at the DOTr, will not hesitate to impose the same appropriate sanctions as warranted against the operator of Roval Transport and the driver involved,” the DOTr said.
"Let this serve as a warning to all our road transport partners that the DOTr, LTRB and LTO will never tolerate this irresponsible and reckless manner of driving by authorized PUBs which poses a danger to life and possible damage to property,” it added. — Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA News
