Some LSIs slept on the streets as Rizal Memorial Stadium already full

Some of the locally stranded individuals (LSIs) who were waiting for trips back to their provinces slept in the streets in Manila after the Rizal Memorial Stadium became full, according to a report of Jonathan Andal on Dobol B sa News TV on Sunday.

Around 8 p.m. on Saturday, the Rizal Memorial Stadium stopped accepting more LSIs due to the volume of stranded people already inside.

Some of the LSIs on Adriatico Street were already ignoring social distancing.

According to a separate report of Manny Vargas on Dobol B sa News TV on Sunday, police personnel were patrolling the area and accosted stranded individuals and vendors who were failing to observe health protocols.

A few vendors serving food to LSIs were not wearing face masks while interacting with their customers.

With the easing of quarantine restrictions, LSIs have been allowed to go back to some provinces with assistance from the government via its Hatid Tulong Program. Many people were stranded in Metro Manila when the government imposed quarantine measures starting mid-March.

The LSIs will have to undergo rapid testing to screen for COVID-19 before they are allowed to board buses for their home provinces.

Thousands of LSIs gathered at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila where they will be processed before being allowed to go home to provinces.

Some LSIs were already able to board buses for Mindanao.

On Sunday morning, more LSIs arrived at Rizal Memorial Stadium, according to tweets by GMA News reporter Mai Bermudez.
