Busted water pipe causes flooding in part of Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard, Manila

Part of Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard in Sta. Mesa, Manila was not passable to light vehicles Friday morning due to flooding caused by a busted water pipe in the area.

In his report on Dobol B sa News TV, Super Radyo dzBB’s Mark Makalalad said the flooding was around two meters deep and causing traffic jam in the area.

MMDA staff Zandro Bondoc said they received report about the incident in the area of Altura, Sta. Mesa around 6 a.m. and informed Maynilad about it.

“Kaninang bandang alas-sais may nagreport sa amin na may sumabog na tubo ng Maynilad dito sa pagbaba ng Altura bridge. Ngayon pumunta agad kami dito para i-check kung tutuo ‘yung report, nakita namin biglang nagbaha na ganito kalalim na not passable to light vehicles," he said.

"Natawagan na po namin ‘yung Maynilad, hinihintay na lang po namin ang feedback nila,” he added.

He advised commuters to avoid the area. He said vehicles coming from Divisoria should go to Lacson Avenue going to Espana and then their destination in Quezon City.

Meanwhile, those coming from Quezon City going to Legarda should go to Old Sta. Mesa, then to Pandacan going to Quirino and to their destination.

Aside from MMDA, personnel from the Department of Public Works and Highways and Manila Police District were also in the area.—AOL, GMA News
