Water service interruption Maynilad Manila

West zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. is targeting to finish the repair of busted water pipe in Sta. Mesa, Manila, which caused flooding in a section of the Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard, rendering impassable to some vehicles.

In an interview on Dobol B sa News TV, Maynilad Corporate Communications head Jennifer Rufo said that “barring any complications” the repair of the busted pipe is targeted to be done by 8 p.m.

“By midnight, normal na ang service resumption,” she said.

Rufo said that the pipe damage affected 200,000 customers.

She, however, said that Maynilad implemented a network adjustments and reduced the number of affected customers to 82,000.

“Nag deploy muna ng mobile tankers para matulungan ang customers na nawalan ng tubig,” Rufo said.

“Initially nag-deploy kami ng 30 water tankers and because of network adjustments po mas kaunti na po ang affected customers,” she added.

“Sa kasalukuyan ang nakakaranas ng service interruptions ay ilang bahagi ng Sampaloc at Pandacan sa Manila; area ng Malagsang sa Cavite na lamang,” she said.

The Maynilad official explained that the busted water pipe is already for decommissioning in the first part of 2021.

“Decommission, ibig sabihin hindi na po kailangan ‘yung linya na ‘yan at kailangan na po siyang tanggalin sa ating network dahil mero na naman tayong existing supply line na makakatulong doon sa mga areas served by the pipelin,” Rufo said. —LBG, GMA News
