Parañaque gov’t distributes P5k to families that have not received aid since March

The city government of Parañaque has begun distributing P5,000 in financial aid to some 50,000 households that have not received any form of assistance from the national government since a community quarantine was imposed in March.

According to Mariz Umali’s Wednesday report on “24 Oras,” only 77,674 out of the 170,000 households in Parañaque received cash aid from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) while 40,000 others were waitlisted.

The local government has also shifted to a cashless mode of aid distribution through an ATM card.

“We already learned from our previous experience during the SAP 1 distribution.

The financial assistance may be withdrawn from any ATM machine.

Two banks on wheels are also scheduled to make rounds in barangays with no nearby banks.

Meanwhile, the national government assured the public that it will give cash aid to qualified beneficiaries under the second tranche of the social amelioration program.

“The DSWD advised us that they will complete the distribution of the second tranche for Metro Manila this week,” Malaya said. —Julia Mari Ornedo/LDF, GMA News
