2 Chinese nationals allegedly involved in kidnapping nabbed in Las Piñas, 2 victims rescued

Two Chinese nationals allegedly involved in the kidnapping of their compatriots were arrested by operatives from the Philippine National Police-Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG).

Authorities identified the suspects as Weng Zhiting and Cheng Guo. Their victims, who were rescued during the operation, were identified as Jiang Xiao Hao and Li Weizu.

Police on Wednesday said an operation last August 9 was conducted in a residence along Aurelia street in BF Resort Village, Las Piñas City after Yang Lingyu, wife of Jiang, filed a complaint that her husband was kidnapped at Regency Salcedo in Bel-Air, Makati City last August 7.

The complainant said the kidnappers were demanding 500,000 RMB for the safe release of the victims.

On August 8, negotiations continued but the family of the victims in China had refused to give the ransom money to the kidnappers.

Police said the suspects allegedly hurt the victims and they also transferred the victims' money to their account using Alipay app.

Authorities said the suspects were enticing victims to change their Philippine peso to another foreign currency, promising that it is faster and with a higher rate. On their second transaction with their victims, the suspects will kidnap them.

Seized during the operation were some cellular phones, one fired cartridge case of 9MM, one live ammunition of cal. 38, two handcuffs, plastic straps, and other pieces of evidence.

Complaints for kidnapping for ransom and serious illegal detention were filed against the suspects on August 10, police said.—AOL, GMA News
