Lola victimized by thieves gets aid from Kapuso Foundation

The 68-year-old homeless woman who had been victimized by thieves just received aid from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to a report on "24 Oras," the foundation visited Lola Milagros Bautista in Caloocan City a few weeks after her story aired on the news program.

She is still pushing her cart and peddling items for a living, but when asked if she wants to move to a shelter for the elderly, she declined.

"Dito lang ako sa bangketa, ayaw ko po umuwi sa mga kapatid ko," said Lola Milagros, who has been robbed of her meager belongings at least four times.

She received grocery packs from the Kapuso Foundation and had undergone swab testing with the Philippine Red Cross to make sure she is safe amid the pandemic.

Lola Milagros tested negative for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), though her x-rays showed the onset of arthritis on her knee. She was also given a cane to support her while walking.

"Sa awa ng Diyos hindi ako nagkakasakit," she said. "Sabi ko sa Panginoong Diyos, alam Mo naman ang trabaho ko, wag Mo akong pababayaan." —MGP, GMA News
