A workers' quarters in one business establishment in Barangay Palingon-Tipas in Taguig City was placed under localized quarantine after some individuals got infected with COVID-19.

In an advisory released by the local government of Taguig City, 52 individuals were subjected to RT/PCR test and 18 of them yielded positive results for COVID-19.

The city's Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit looked into the case cluster and evaluated the area. It then suggested that a localized quarantine should be enforced in the workers' quarter, which will be start on August 19 and last until September 2.

Under the localized quarantine, the workers’ quarters will be cordoned off so that no one enters or exits the facility. A quarantine and containment management team will also monitor and secure the area.

"All the individuals under quarantine will be monitored regularly for their health and living conditions. The city will also provide the daily food and hygiene needs of the workers," the Taguig LGU said.

Further COVID-19 testing would be done to determine the extent of the spread of the virus in the area, it also said.

On the other hand, a household in Barangay Katuparan was also placed under localized quarantine from August 19 to September 2 after 20 of its members tested positive for COVID-19.

Based on the assessment of the city's Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit, the topography around the residence and the living situation of the family can place more people at risk.

"With the declaration of the localized lockdown, no one will be allowed into or out of the Katuparan address. Additional security measures will be enforced," the city government said.

The city government ensured that it would take all the necessary steps to provide the needs of the household under lockdown and secure the rest of the neighborhood from the virus.

So far, Taguig City has 3,643 COVID-19 cases, with 2968 recoveries and 40 deaths. —KBK, GMA News
