Quarantine pass, IDs needed before entering QC establishments

The local government of Quezon City announced on Friday that residents need to present their quarantine passes or company IDs before entering any establishment in the city.

Mayor Joy Belmonte said this move aims to limit the movement of persons outside their residences in order to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.

Those covered by the guidelines include commercial buildings, markets, and shopping centers, she said.

"Kailangan nang magpakita ng quarantine pass o company ID bago payagang pumasok sa mga establisimyento sa ating siyudad. Ito’y upang matiyak na walang lalabas ng tahanan para lang gumala,” Belmonte said.

“Kung hindi naman kailangang lumabas, manatili na lang tayo sa loob ng ating mga tahanan upang maiwasan ang virus.”

Meanwhile, Belmonte also said those performing outdoor exercises such as running, bicycling, tennis, badminton and golf are also required to show their quarantine passes.

She said barangays could issue up to two quarantine passes per household.

The mayor also reminded that high-risk individuals — those below 21 years old, 60 years old and above and pregnant women — may not enter malls and shopping centers.

"However, they may enter when indispensable for work or for obtaining essential goods and services, but they must present a quarantine pass or work ID," Belmonte said.

She also advised the management of malls and shopping centers to not provide free WiFi services so that customers will not loiter inside their establishments.

Belmonte directed the city’s law and order cluster, barangays and the Quezon City Police District to strictly enforce the latest guidelines. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
